| Bio: |  Shinn was a citizen of the Orb Union for most of his life. He lived with his parents and his sister, Mayu, whom he cared about deeply. When the war between the Earth Alliance and the ZAFT began, the Orb Union was the only country to remain neutral in the conflict. However, an Orb company began manufacturing prototype Mobile Suits for the Alliance to match ZAFT’s power, and when ZAFT caught on, they attacked Orb’s “Heliopolis” space colony and stole 4 of the 5 prototype machines (this is where Gundam Seed picks up, and Shinn doesn’t appear until Seed Destiny, so this will be largely skipped. But one event from this war is what shapes his entire future, so it deserves mention). Eventually, the corrupt Earth Alliance demands that Orb join it against ZAFT or be destroyed as one of ZAFT’s supporters. Uzumi Nara Athha, Orb’s Chief Representative, holds true to Orb’s neutrality and refuses to join, prompting the Alliance to attack. Orb fights valiantly, but although their forces are superior, they are far outnumbered, and Orb is overcome. In the heat of battle, Shinn and his family are evacuating, and Mayu drops her cell phone and it falls down a small hill. Shinn jumps down to retrieve it, but while he is as the bottom of the hill, his family is killed by the crossfire of the battle. Shinn breaks down when he sees Mayu’s severed arm. An Orb officer finds him and takes him to the ships that are leaving and takes care of him. Shinn, all the while, clutched his sister’s cell phone. The war ended several weeks later at the Second Battle of Jachin Due. Two years later, Shinn has moved to the PLANTs and joined ZAFT. His outstanding performance at the academy has earned him the rank of an elite ZAFT Red. In addition, the leader of the PLANTs, Chairman Durandal, sees potential in Shinn and hand-picks him to be the pilot of ZAFT’s new ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam. He is stationed aboard the Minerva, a brand new ship designed to work with the Impulse. The Alliance raids ZAFT’s Armory and steals three other Gundams ZAFT had developed, which leads Shinn to battle them along side his friends Rey Za Burrel and Lunamaria Hawke. This leads to the Minerva launching prematurely and the unofficial beginning of the next war. When extreme radicals from ZAFT still loyal to Patrick Zala, the old chairman, drop the remains of a space colony on the Earth, causing disasters world wide, the people on Earth are enraged at the videos they see of ZAFT mobile suits dropping the colony. The corrupt Earth Officals purposefully do not show the other ZAFT mobile suits that are trying to stop them. This causes the war to officially begin. It is then that Athrun Zala, a hero of the first war, re-enlists in ZAFT and joins the Minerva with his new Savior Gundam. Athrun is even given special authority by the Chairman to do whatever he pleases. The only one he has to answer to is the Chairman himself. Athrun fights alongside Shinn, and although the two often do not see eye-to-eye, Athrun becomes something of a mentor to Shinn, although Shinn would never admit it. Things become complicated, however, when the warship Archangel returns from the previous war, along with the legendary Freedom Gundam and its pilot, Kira Yamato, Athrun’s best friend. Also on the ship is Cagalli Yula Athha, the new Chief Rep. of Orb. Unfortunately, in her absence (Kira kidnapped her with Freedom because she was being forced into marriage), Orb entered the war on the Alliance’s side. Kira and the Freedom try to stop the two sides from fighting by disabling mobile suits on both sides instead of shooting them down, and he does so very effectively. Impulse is no match, and Savior is damaged beyond repair, though Athrun is unharmed. Shinn, humiliated by Freedom, strives to become a better pilot. During one leave, he meets Stella, a girl who, unknown to him, is the pilot of one of the machines stolen from ZAFT, and he falls in love with her. Later, her machine is damaged and captured by Impulse, and Shinn is shocked to see her as the pilot. He learns that she has been raised specifically to kill, and her body relies on special drugs which only the Alliance has. With Rey’s help, he returns her to the Alliance. He escapes the death penalty because of his outstanding record as a pilot. Later, the massive “Destroy Gundam” of the Alliance begins to level Berlin as punishment for Europe’s sympathizing with ZAFT. Shinn and the Impulse go to stop it, and he finds the Freedom already fighting it. When he learns the pilot is Stella, he manages to calm her down, but she panics when she sees the Freedom. Kira destroys her machine, killing her, to prevent more deaths in Berlin. Shinn swears revenge and carries it through when he destroys the Freedom in “Operation Angel Down.” Shinn is rewarded for his tremendous accomplishments with the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam, a machine even more powerful than the Freedom was. His friend Rey receives the Legend Gundam, and Lunamaria takes Shinn’s old Impulse Gundam. Athrun returns to the Archangel and Kira, who survived the Freedom’s destruction and now pilots the upgraded Strike Freedom Gundam. Athrun receives the new Infinite Justice Gundam, and he and Shinn often meet on the battlefield while Kira fights Rey. Shinn also grows closer to Lunamaria during this time, despite the fact they both think he killed her younger sister Meyrin (who defected with Athrun). In the final battle, Shinn sees Athrun disable Lunamaria’s Impulse, and goes into a rage. He starts to gain the upper hand, but Lunamaria tries to stop him. In his anger, he doesn’t see her, and nearly kills her before the Infinite Justice blocks his attack and cripples the Destiny. It crash lands on the moon, and Athrun later comes back to pick up Shinn and Luna. After the war, Shinn, Luna, Athrun, and Meyrin are at the memorial to the civilians who died in the first war in Orb. Kira arrives, and Athrun introduces Kira to Shinn as Freedom’s pilot. Shinn is shocked, but Kira holds out his hand and asks Shinn to join them should there be another war. Overwhelmed that Kira can forgive him for everything just like that, he takes his hand and agrees, crying. Now, 2 years later, Shinn still pilots the Destiny and works for Kira, who is now part of ZAFT. One day, on a routine patrol, a group of terrorists attack, and the Destiny rushes to stop them… (Disclaimer: I'm not Shinn, thank god, and I don't own him or Gundam Seed Destiny, Gundam Seed, or anything Gundam other than a few old, broken action figures.
